At the time of this taping, Denis was also starring on an early Comedy Central series called "AfterDrive". He appears here on a very early episode of "Comics Only," when everyone involved with the series - especially Provenza - was just starting to get the hang of the whole talk-show thing. Denis' now-infamous "No Cure For Cancer" solo live show had just made a big impact in the UK, and was released as a CD and a Showtime special in in the US in '93. In this conversational format, Denis took the opportunity to get some of the material from that show out there on US television. (This is some of the material that created conflict and charges of plagiarism from Bill Hicks - a conflict that still rages to this day among Hicks fans.) He refers to a series that he also was hosting for television in the UK, which Provenza had appeared on as one of Denis' guests. They were running in the same circles a lot back then - and Denis even appears in the opening credits of "Comics Only', just messing around with Provenza and a bunch of other comics (Including Jon Stewart, Judy Gold and many others...)
