Time/Date: 13:00 pm-17:00 pm, Friday 21th December 2018 Location: Middle East Technical University, Department of Business Administration, FEAS B-Building, G110, Ankara CONTEXT Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) academic disciplines help the development of science and technology which will provide innovation, problem solving skills, logical thinking and a good understanding of world’s functioning. Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH) such as anthropology, economics, business administration, psychology are concerned with society and the relationships among individuals within a society. SSH provides an understanding of others, and empathy, critical thinking, analysis skills and so on. Energy-SSH has played less of a role to date in shaping (European) energy policy than Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines. Social Sciences and Humanities for Advancing Policy in European Energy (SHAPE-ENERGY) aims at representing a new European platform for energy-related social sciences and humanities (energy-SSH) and to integrate it in the policy process. There is a need to incorporate STEM and SSH approaches to find solutions to energy and environmental challenges that transcend disciplines. Hence, we kindly invite you to join us in this multidisciplinary workshop to push METU energy research to outer limits. AIM OF THE MULTIDISCIPLINARY WORKSHOP This Event will be invite-only gathering of 200-210 participants, around 140 of which will be Doctorate students from all SSH and STEM. Workshop part of the event will host half of the invited doctorate students and academicians. STEM and SSH often approach energy and environmental related issues in fundamentally different ways. This Multidisciplinary Workshop aims at bringing together early career and senior energy scholars in STEM and SHH disciplines at METU to start communicating ideas and collaboration opportunities in transdisciplinary approaches to local and global energy and environmental problems.
